Mexican singer launches new project "Thalía's Mixtape: El Soundtrack de Mi Vida" and meets teenage idols: "It was like traveling in time".
Thalía , 51, relived her adolescence when she heard, in the summer of 2019, some songs that marked that time in her life. These feelings guided her in the production of her new project Thalía's Mixtape: El Soundtrack de Mi Vida, a documentary-musical by Paramount+ and MTV, in which she tells the story of rock in Spanish while finding and recording hits with idols such as Charly Alberti , from the Argentine band Soda Stereo, and Roco Pachukote, from the Mexican band La Maldita Vecindad.
"I am very happy to be able to do this three-episode series, which is a music documentary, in which we are going to inspect the path and growth of music from vinyl, web3, artificial intelligence, with my lifelong idols. I'm a fan of this series. The teenage fan is the Thalía of this series," she says.
"I had these feelings of my teenage self very guarded. There are songs that we keep in a safe and that we don't want to open, which are our treasures. These songs I started listening to in 2019 in the summer. I dared to listen to these again songs from when I was 16. And that's how the idea started. They are songs and songs that move me", she adds, who sings on this album Pachuco, Persiana Americana, Devuélveme a Mi Chica, Para No Verte Más, La Muralla Verde and Florecita Rockera.
The Mexican star was moved in several moments when meeting the idols: "I didn't know them personally. It was as if they had come out of the poster of a teenager's room. It was like traveling back in time. I'm very happy to be able to bring some of that to the new generations."
In her more rock version, the singer says that throughout her personal and professional life, she had this duality between the good girl and the most rebellious one. "I had millions of moments of rebellion. I was always between the good girl and the bad girl. I had this duality in my personality, especially in my career, discography, music and characters as an actress. There are two Thalías in one. Life is made of moments and different versions of yourself", she explains, who tries to keep some characteristics of her time as a girl.
"Every child is very naughty, they're always asking, studying, taking notes... I feel like that, that's my essence. I'm very naughty! I live like a screen in front of me with thoughts passing by, always seeing new things, having new ideas and reviewing concepts. I believe that being explosive, fun and happy is a discipline in life. We have to seek happiness, try to think positive, that we can get what we want and think about things that contribute to good, not those that make you feel bad. That's a choice. It's a discipline to try to be happy", she analyzes.
MATERNITY AND LEGACY
Mother of Sabrina , 15, and Matthew , 11, Thalía admits that it's challenging to raise two teenagers: "It's a tremendous challenge. Every day I'm like 'ouch!'. I talk to my sisters: 'How difficult it is to be a mother!'. The will leave you and go live their lives. I'm clear about that. So, I enjoy both of them a lot".
Thalía wants to leave her authenticity as a legacy for her children and future generations. "My legacy is authenticity, being who you are regardless of whether you're accepted or not. Some won't like you, there will be others who criticize and tear you down... So, do things. My legacy is to be authentic, be yourself and do things from the heart in everything", she reinforces.
