Thalía stars in a docuseries about the mark left on her life and rock career of Soda Stereo, Nacha Pop and Los Enanitos Verdes.

As a child, Thalía turned on the radio to create mixtapes with her favorite rock songs in Spanish, hoping that the announcer would not interrupt her recording.

She also liked to decorate her cassettes with colored stamps and markers, which she continues to do, as she shares in her docuseries Thalía's Mixtape: El Soundtrack de Mi Vida.

"It is important to preserve the DNA of the songs and do it from a place of homage, respect and fanaticism. It is a musical docuseries with great artists from the Spanish rock era, reinterpreting the songs and discovering the stories behind all the movement they made", said the singer, in a video interview.

Figures such as Soda Stereo, Hombres G, Aterciopelados, Los Enanitos Verdes, Maná, La Maldita Vecindad, Miguel Mateos, Mecano, La Mosca Tsé-Tsé and Nacha Pop influenced, inspired and marked the path of the then member of Timbiriche.

During the summer of 2019, the singer was driving down a highway when she heard the songs she kept in the vault of her teenage heart. She let her imagination fly and it occurred to her to create a project to pay tribute to her rock icons. When the pandemic arrived, she landed her ideas and looked for her accomplices: her production house, Sony; producer Áureo Baqueiro, Paramount+ and MTV.

Her idols helped her break down the barriers she saw around her. When she recorded her Thalía's Mixtapes, the order of the songs mattered when telling a story.

"Rock is freedom, a form of authenticity and liberation. Definitely, this was a very authentic generation, which identified itself by fighting for its message no matter what it entails: breaking all the barriers that would stop them and being irreverent when saying the things what they felt."

"That, to me, as a teenager, influenced me too much. It influenced me a lot to dare to do these things that I wanted and experiment with my musical style, my looks, and it was that rebellion," she reflected.

Thalía reinvents and revalues the songs that marked her

Thalía stripped the songs to take them into her authentic and minimalist world and inspect them thoroughly.

"They leave me the teaching of the will, because they all lived in a world where they had to impose themselves to break barriers, but they continue to preserve that essence, that love for what they do, that passion for music and for their followers."

"So I have that thing in common: my fans are the people who have allowed me to continue here, reinventing myself, they inject me with projects and creativity. Seeing that they (my icons) are still doing bigger things, that they are reinventing themselves and creating things, you say: 'That's so cool!'. There is always a way to reinvent yourself".

To support new talent, she invited Kenia Os, León Leiden, Ben Carrillo and Bruses to record some classic Spanish rock songs.

In addition to the docuseries, there will be an album (Thalía's Mixtapes) made up of 11 songs recorded by her with her favorite artists and it will go on sale this Friday (April 28, 2023). All three episodes of Thalía's Mixtape: El Soundtrack de Mi Vida will be available starting May 3 on Paramount+.

"Enjoy this mixtape. I hope it touches that nostalgic fiber that we all carry inside," she requested.

When talking with the members of Aterciopelados, Thalía learned that she had a lot in common with Andrea Echeverri, because they were both little flower rockers. The Colombian and her partner, Héctor Buitrago, wrote a song about how equal and different the singers are, so they will put together this collaboration.
