The Mexican pop star, actress and designer Thalia turns 44 today (August 26) and she’s been celebrating on social media all week long. "Last sunset of this year of my life!" she tweeted yesterday evening. "Tomorrow, if God gives us life, we’ll see one for my birthday."
The peppiness is par for the course for Thalía, who's been in the spotlight since taping her first TV spot at 1 year old. By nine, Thalía was a regular on Mexican television, in 1986, she joined Mexican pop group Timbiriche, the following year she got her first soap opera role and in 1990 she started releasing solo albums.
Thalía became a superstar playing the poor ingénue on soap operas that aired around the world, even as she became a singing superstar with her mix of ballads and uptempo pop.
Now, happily married to music executive Tommy Mottola, and mom to Sabrina, 7, and Matthew, 4, she's still very much the star.
In the past 12 months, she released a new studio album, Amore Mio, and launched a new full fashion line with Macy's, Thalia Sodi. And at 44, she looks pretty spectacular thanks to hours in the gym ("I love weights, I love the gym," she says) and good eating habits ("I had Lyme disease, so I eat no starches, no sugar and lots of vegetables and protein.")
